Materials You'll Need:

1/2 cup baking soda
1/2 cup white vinegar
Hot water
A large bowl or cup
Optional: Plunger

Steps:

Pour the baking soda down the drain. Slowly pour 1/2 cup of baking soda down the clogged drain. It will start to foam and bubble, which is a sign that it's working.
Follow with the vinegar. Carefully pour 1/2 cup of white vinegar down the drain. The vinegar will react with the baking soda, creating a fizzing reaction that helps to break down the clog.
Let it sit. Allow the baking soda and vinegar mixture to sit in the drain for at least 30 minutes, or longer if the clog is severe. This will give the mixture time to work its way into the clog and break it down.
Flush with hot water. After 30 minutes, pour a large pot of boiling hot water down the drain. The hot water will help to flush out the loosened clog and clear the drain.
Repeat if necessary. If the drain is still clogged, you can repeat the process once or twice. Be sure to let the mixture sit for at least 30 minutes each time before flushing with hot water.
Use a plunger. If the baking soda and vinegar mixture doesn't clear the clog, you can try using a plunger. Place the plunger over the drain and plunge up and down vigorously. This will help to create suction and dislodge the clog.

Tips:

For stubborn clogs, you can try adding a little salt to the baking soda and vinegar mixture.
