Hose Pipe Attachment for Kitchen Sink
A hose pipe can be attached to your kitchen sink to conveniently reach far ends of the sink while doing the dishes, rinsing the sink, filling up large pots, and so on. Installing a hose pipe attachment on a kitchen sink is quite easy. There are two ways to do it, depending on how your kitchen sink is structured. This guide will show you how to attach a hose pipe to a kitchen sink, regardless of the method you choose.
Installing a Hose Pipe Attachment with a Sprayer Head
This is the most common way to attach a hose pipe to a kitchen sink. The hose pipe comes with a sprayer head that screws onto the sink tap. You need the following:
- A hose pipe with a sprayer head
- A spanner or wrench
- Teflon tape (optional)
To install:
- Turn off the water supply to the sink.
- Unscrew the aerator or sprayer head from the end of the sink tap using your spanner or wrench.
- Wrap a few rounds of Teflon tape around the threads of the hose pipe connector. This will help create a watertight seal.
- Screw the hose pipe connector onto the end of the sink tap by hand, then tighten it with the wrench.
- Attach the hose pipe to the hose pipe connector.
- Turn on the water supply to the sink and check for leaks.
Installing a Hose Pipe Attachment with a Diverter Valve
If your kitchen sink has a pull-out sprayer, you may need to install a diverter valve to connect the hose pipe. A diverter valve is a small valve that attaches to the sink tap and diverts water flow between the sink tap and the hose pipe. You need the following:
- A hose pipe with a diverter valve
- A spanner or wrench
- Teflon tape (optional)
To install:
- Turn off the water supply to the sink.
- Unscrew the pull-out sprayer hose from the end of the sink tap.
- Wrap a few rounds of Teflon tape around the threads of the diverter valve.
- Screw the diverter valve onto the end of the sink tap.
- Attach the pull-out sprayer hose to the diverter valve.
- Attach the hose pipe to the diverter valve.
- Turn on the water supply to the sink and check for leaks.
