Hot Water In Sink But Not Shower

First, check to see if your water heater is turned on. If it is, the next step is to check the temperature setting. It should be set to at least 120 degrees Fahrenheit. If it’s not, turn it up and wait a few minutes for the water to heat up.

If your water heater is turned on and the temperature is set correctly, the next step is to check the dip tube. The dip tube is a long, thin pipe that extends from the top of the water heater to the bottom. Its purpose is to draw cold water from the bottom of the tank and send it to the top, where it can be heated. Over time, the dip tube can become clogged with sediment, which can restrict the flow of water and prevent the water from heating up properly.

To check the dip tube, you’ll need to remove the access panel on the side of the water heater. Once you have the access panel removed, you’ll be able to see the dip tube. If it’s clogged, you can clean it out with a wire brush or a pipe cleaner.

If the dip tube is not clogged, the next step is to check the heating element. The heating element is responsible for heating the water in the tank. Over time, the heating element can become coated with scale, which can reduce its efficiency. To check the heating element, you’ll need to remove the lower access panel on the water heater. Once you have the lower access panel removed, you’ll be able to see the heating element.

If the heating element is coated with scale, you can clean it with a vinegar solution. To make a vinegar solution, mix one part white vinegar with one part water. Pour the vinegar solution into the water heater and let it sit for several hours. After several hours, drain the vinegar solution from the water heater and flush it with clean water.
