How to Install A Vanity Sink

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prepare the Vanity

Start by removing the old sink from the vanity. If the old sink is caulked in place, use a putty knife to carefully cut around the edges of the sink. Once the sink is removed, clean the surface of the vanity where the new sink will be installed.

2. Install the Sink Strainer

Next, insert the sink strainer into the drain hole in the bottom of the sink. The strainer should fit snugly into the hole and should have a rubber gasket to help prevent leaks.

3. Apply Plumber's Putty

Apply a bead of plumber's putty around the rim of the sink where it will meet the vanity. The putty will help to seal the sink and prevent water from leaking.

4. Install the Sink

Carefully place the sink onto the vanity, aligning it with the drain hole. Press down on the sink to seat it in the putty.

5. Install the Faucet

Insert the faucet into the holes in the sink. Secure the faucet in place with the nuts and washers that came with it. Tighten the nuts until the faucet is snug.

6. Install the Pop-Up Drain

Insert the pop-up drain into the drain hole in the sink. The drain should fit snugly into the hole and should have a rubber gasket to help prevent leaks.

7. Connect the Water Supply Lines

Connect the water supply lines to the faucet. The hot water line should be connected to the red line on the faucet, and the cold water line should be connected to the blue line. Tighten the nuts on the water supply lines until they are snug.

8. Caulk Around the Sink

Apply a bead of caulk around the edges of the sink where it meets the vanity. The caulk will help to seal the sink and prevent water from leaking.

9. Check for Leaks

Turn on the water supply and check for leaks. If there are any leaks, tighten the nuts on the water supply lines or the drain until the leak stops.
