How To Install P Trap Sink

A P-trap is a U-shaped pipe that is used to trap water in a sink drain. This water creates a seal that prevents sewer gases from escaping into your home. P-traps are relatively easy to install, and you can do it yourself with a few basic tools.

Tools you will need:

Adjustable wrench
Pliers
Plumber's putty
New P-trap
Bucket

Instructions:

Place the bucket under the sink drain to catch any water that may leak out.
Use the adjustable wrench to loosen the nuts that hold the old P-trap in place. Once the nuts are loose, you can remove the old P-trap by hand.
Apply a bead of plumber's putty to the threads of the new P-trap. This will help to create a watertight seal.

Connect the drain pipe to the P-trap. Tighten the nuts on the drain pipe by hand, and then use the pliers to tighten them further.
