How To Replace Bathroom Sink Faucets

Replacing a bathroom sink faucet is a simple plumbing project that can be completed in a few hours. By following these steps, you can save yourself the cost of hiring a plumber.

Before you begin, you will need to gather the following tools and materials:

  • New bathroom sink faucet
  • Wrench
  • Adjustable wrench
  • Plumber's putty
  • Teflon tape
  • Bucket
  • Rags

Once you have gathered your tools and materials, you can begin the process of replacing your bathroom sink faucet.

Step 1: Turn off the water supply to the sink. There will be two shut-off valves under the sink, one for the hot water and one for the cold water. Turn both valves clockwise to turn off the water.

Step 2: Disconnect the old faucet. Use the wrench to loosen the nuts that hold the faucet in place. Once the nuts are loose, you can pull the faucet straight up to disconnect it from the sink.

Step 3: Clean the sink surface. Use the rags to clean the surface of the sink where the new faucet will be installed. This will help to ensure a good seal.

Step 4: Apply plumber's putty to the base of the new faucet. Roll a small piece of plumber's putty into a ball and place it on the bottom of the new faucet. This will help to create a seal between the faucet and the sink.

Step 5: Install the new faucet. Insert the new faucet into the hole in the sink. Turn the faucet clockwise to tighten it in place. Do not overtighten the faucet, as this could crack the sink.

Step 6: Connect the water supply lines to the new faucet. Use the adjustable wrench to tighten the nuts on the water supply lines. Make sure that the connections are tight, but do not overtighten them.

Step 7: Turn on the water supply to the sink. Slowly turn on the shut-off valves under the sink to turn on the water. Check for leaks at the base of the faucet and the connections to the water supply lines.

Step 8: Adjust the faucet handles. Use the wrench to adjust the faucet handles so that they are in the desired position.

Your new bathroom sink faucet is now installed and ready to use.
