Install P Trap Bathroom Sink

Replacing or installing a P-trap under a bathroom sink is not a difficult plumbing task, but it does require a few simple tools. A P-trap is a plumbing fixture that is installed under the sink to prevent sewer gases from escaping into the bathroom, and it also prevents objects from falling into the drain. The P-trap is usually made of metal or plastic, and it has two curved sections, which form the P-shape. The P-trap connects to the sink drain and to the drainpipe.

To install a P-trap, you will need the following tools:

Adjustable wrench
Slip joint pliers
Plumber's putty
Teflon tape

You will also need to purchase a new P-trap, which can be found at any hardware store. Once you have all of your tools and materials, you can follow these steps to install the P-trap:

Place a bead of plumber's putty around the base of the sink drain.
Screw the P-trap onto the sink drain, and tighten it with the adjustable wrench.
Apply Teflon tape to the threads of the drainpipe.
Screw the P-trap onto the drainpipe, and tighten it with the adjustable wrench.
Use the slip joint pliers to tighten the nuts on the slip joints.
Turn on the water and check for leaks.

If you see any leaks, tighten the connections with the adjustable wrench or slip joint pliers. Once you are sure that there are no leaks, you can finish the installation by putting the cabinet doors back on and turning on the water.
