Replace Sink Shut Off Valve

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Turn off the water supply.
Locate the main water shut-off valve for your home and turn it off. This valve is usually located near the water meter or in the basement.

2. Open the faucets.
Open the faucets in the sink that you're working on to release any remaining water pressure.

3. Place a bucket under the shut-off valves.
This will catch any water that leaks out when you remove the old valves.

4. Remove the old shut-off valves.
Using a wrench, loosen the nuts that hold the shut-off valves in place. Be careful not to overtighten the nuts, as this can damage the valves.

5. Apply Teflon tape to the new shut-off valves.
Wrap the threads of the new shut-off valves with Teflon tape. This will help to create a watertight seal.

6. Install the new shut-off valves.
Screw the new shut-off valves into place by hand. Then, use an adjustable wrench to tighten the nuts until they are snug.

7. Turn on the water supply.
Slowly turn on the main water shut-off valve. Check for leaks around the new shut-off valves. If you see any leaks, tighten the nuts until the leaks stop.

8. Open the faucets.
Open the faucets in the sink to make sure that the water is flowing properly.
